I must close as we will be on the move in a short time - My health is very good & if we were to remain here on the coast I should not dread the heat, I have a fancy for living on the sea shore, but cannot now say any thing about a home on "Rusian River". I was happy to learn that Mother was getting well again. I hope to see her in her new home, contented & happy. Send my love to her & father & all.
As for our home afairs - they will have to remain in status quo for a while at least, but O - am I not anxious to get home again to "run the machine". Have Austin to take good care of the young horses, have Prince & Bert in good order. The 23d is now cut down to about 375 - there are about 80 recruits, so that there will only be about 300 of the old soldiers to muster out. I have only to say further that it will be better for you to be making any arangement you can towards housekeeping - as we will want to go home as soon as we can - I am so tired of runing about. Good bye dearest. May God bless you is the constant prayer of your husband. Lyle A Garrett
